Designed for passionate reef/wreck fishing enthusiasts with long foregrip and butt section for added leverage against trophy snapper and grouper. Ideal for live and/or dead bait applications across The Florida Keys, Dry Tortugas, Pulley Ridge, Middle Grounds, Fort Pierce, Bahamas, etc. where hefty snapper and grouper reign supreme. Graphite has a greater strength to weight ratio than e-glass, but e-glass provides the ideal action when fishing live/dead bait. The result is our composite series of Technique-Specific rods designed for awesome sensitivity and incredible lifting power in a surprisingly light package. Also doubles as a great bridge/pier snook/drum rod, and as a light/medium duty under-the-arm deep drop rod.

Line/Lure Ratings: Nearly every rod on the market includes a label or etching indicating suggested weight ratings. This is merely a suggestion as no rod performs equally well casting a 1 oz. lure and a 6 oz. lure. Line ratings are also suggestive with different implications from one manufacturer to the next.
Length: The length of a rod is vital. With spinning rods increased length provides greater casting distance, a useful attribute on the flats when sight fishing wary predators. Extra casting distance is also beneficial when throwing lures into a headwind and when fishing from the surf. Conversely, a shorter rod is a better choice when skipping lures under docks and overhanging mangrove shorelines, and for increased backbone when battling powerful game fish.
Guides: Selecting the proper guides is often a puzzle. With no moving parts, Fuji K Guides are the easiest to maintain and are an excellent choice when fishing monofilament or braid. AFTCO Roller guides provide the benefit of reduced line wear and fatigue, which can cause premature tackle failure during extended battles. Roller guides are typical on big game trolling rods, but far less vital on light to medium class tackle.
Grips: Cork grips weigh next to nothing and provide a firm grip on inshore/backcountry rods. EVA foam is the standard for all near-shore and offshore saltwater rods.
Reel Seats: Aluminum reel seats are standard on big game stand-up/trolling rods when using reel clamps otherwise lightweight graphite is the best choice.
