A big step up from our standard 15-30 lb. 6’6” Offshore Spin this 7’0” composite spinner is hands-down my favorite Technique-Specific offshore spinning rod. I have fished this rod for more than a decade and rely on it as much today as I did ten years ago. Specifically designed for 15-20 lb. mono or 20-30 lb. braid this incredibly versatile rod features a composite blank, blending e-glass in the upper portion for strength and durability. With ultra strong and lightweight graphite in the bottom portion for the greatest sensitivity and weight reduction properties.
At just the right length the rod features a medium-fast taper. It is designed to subdue powerful offshore game fish while still providing the finesse to pitch fragile live bait and lightweight lures. With a hardened nylon gimbal for a solid fit in rod belts this rod is comfortable and sensitive enough for a variety of bottom dwellers yet strong enough to tackle the toughest pelagic predators. Built with the finest components including tough Fuji guides under-wrapped and double over-wrapped for strength, you can rest assured this rod will last a lifetime. With its ample 7’0” frame and plenty of backbone it is a favorite choice of South Florida live bait fishermen.

Line/Lure Ratings: Nearly every rod on the market includes a label or etching indicating suggested weight ratings. This is merely a suggestion as no rod performs equally well casting a 1 oz. lure and a 6 oz. lure. Line ratings are also suggestive with different implications from one manufacturer to the next.
Length: The length of a rod is vital. With spinning rods increased length provides greater casting distance, a useful attribute on the flats when sight fishing wary predators. Extra casting distance is also beneficial when throwing lures into a headwind and when fishing from the surf. Conversely, a shorter rod is a better choice when skipping lures under docks and overhanging mangrove shorelines, and for increased backbone when battling powerful game fish.
Guides: Selecting the proper guides is often a puzzle. With no moving parts, Fuji K Guides are the easiest to maintain and are an excellent choice when fishing monofilament or braid. AFTCO Roller guides provide the benefit of reduced line wear and fatigue, which can cause premature tackle failure during extended battles. Roller guides are typical on big game trolling rods, but far less vital on light to medium class tackle.
Grips: Cork grips weigh next to nothing and provide a firm grip on inshore/backcountry rods. EVA foam is the standard for all near-shore and offshore saltwater rods.
Reel Seats: Aluminum reel seats are standard on big game stand-up/trolling rods when using reel clamps otherwise lightweight graphite is the best choice.
